Clermont is a colony in
Lake County,
Florida,
United States, west of
Orlando. The population was 13,100 in 2008. The city is essentially residential in character and its economy is centered in retail trade, lodging, and food and beverage establishments, which are tourism oriented. The historic downtown district is still much as it was 50 years ago. It is part of the
Orlando–
KissimmeeMetropolitan Statistical Area.
The
Florida Citrus Tower, one of first constructed Florida landmarks, is located in Clermont. The tower celebrated its 50th anniversary in December 2006.
